Als nun der Herr Chriſtus vnder ſeinem Creutz herzu gefürt wor⸗ den / hab er ſich an ſein Hauß etwas angelehnet: da ſey er zu merer ſeines Eyfers anzeigung herzu gelauffen: vnd mit ſcheltworten ſich von dannen wegk zu packen / vnd hinauß / da er hingehört / zu verfügen / fort gewiſen. Da hatt jhn Chriſtus ſtarck angeſehen / vnd jhn auff die meinung vnge⸗ fährlich angeredt: ICH WILL STEHEN VND RVHEN / DV ABER SOLT GEHEN. Als bald hab er ſein Kind nidergeſetzt / vnnd im Hauß nicht bleiben können: Sondern mit nach gefolget vñ zugeſehen / wie er iſt hingerichtet wor⸗ den. Nach dem ſolches alles vollendet worden / ſey jm vnmüglich geweſen widerum̃ in die Statt Je⸗ ruſalẽ zu gehn / wie er auch nit mer darein kom̃en: Sein Weib / Kind vnd Geſind / nit mehr geſehen / ſondern alſo bald fort in frembde / vnnd alſo eins nach dem andern biß daher durchzogen hab / vñ ob er wol vber etlich 100. Jahr widerumb ins Land kommen / hab er es doch alſo verwüſt vnnd Jeruſalem verſtört gefunden / das er es nit mehr

—be led, and told his household so that they too might see him. He himself took his small child in his arms and stood with the child before the door to let it see the Lord.

When the Lord Christ was led toward them beneath his cross, he leaned for a moment against the man’s house. To display his zeal all the more, Ahasuerus ran over and, with insults, ordered him to get away from there and proceed outside to where he belonged. Then Christ looked at him intently and addressed him with words approximately to this effect:

I WILL STAND AND REST, BUT YOU SHALL GO.

At once he set down his child and could not remain in the house. Instead, he followed and watched how Christ was executed. After all this had been completed, it was impossible for him to return to the city of Jerusalem, and he never entered it again. He never again saw his wife, child, or household, but immediately departed into foreign lands and from then until now traveled through one after another. Although he returned to the country after several hundred years, he found it so desolate and Jerusalem so destroyed that he no longer—

Analysis

The imagined Jesus orders Ahasuerus to go while he rests. The page then makes the named Jew lose his home, family and access to ירושלים YERUŜALAYIM. It is a Christian story that gives this Jew’s displacement a punitive meaning. This printed account does not establish a first-century encounter or a divine sentence against living יהודים YEHUDIM.
