The Arabic term البحر الميت al-bahr al-mayit, the Greek term Νεκρά Θάλασσα Nekra Thalassia, and the Latin term Mare Mortuum all mean 'dead' sea' — the Arabic and the English come from the Greek, while the Greek comes from the Latin.
