אברהם שוחט AVRAHAM ŜOḤAT was born on June 14, 1936, corresponding to כ״ד בסיון ה׳תרצ״ו 24th 𝑜𝑓 Sivan, AM 5696. His autobiography gives both dates in its opening paragraph and recalls a notice in Davar congratulating his parents on the birth of their first son.1

In the same recollection, he connects his family’s history to the building of the Jewish homeland. His father worked in construction and left a list of projects in which he had participated. Shohat recalls learning habits of discipline and saving from him, including a written savings agreement made when Shohat was twelve. This is the adult author’s account of the family influences he chose to emphasize.2

How is this dated?

Shohat explicitly states June 14, 1936, and כ״ד בסיון ה׳תרצ״ו 24th 𝑜𝑓 Sivan, AM 5696 in his memoir. Baran Group’s 2015 annual report independently lists his civil birth date as June 14, 1936. The memoir’s express Hebrew date supports the selected day directly; the placement does not depend solely on converting a civil date with an unknown birth hour. The memoir is retrospective, and the newspaper notice it describes has not been inspected.34
