Dear His Eminence Sayyid Amin,

[unclear]. I received your letters. As for the efforts for your freedom, I did not spare [unclear] means, whether with the British or concerning the Yugoslavs and their request. The Yugoslav government was informed of the Arabs’ regret at its intervention to request that you be tried as a war criminal, and the Arabs consider this the greatest insult to them. The Egyptian government supported me in this. Today I received the news unofficially [unclear] anything further. Everything in my hands to assist you in what you are facing has been put at your disposal. May God protect you. Accept abundant greetings.

Analysis

Page 537 contains a reproduced Arabic letter from Abd al-Rahman Azzam on Arab League General Secretariat letterhead, dated 25 September 1945, followed by a short postscript signed Azzam. The translation preserves the letter's claims about efforts on behalf of Amin's freedom, Yugoslav demands for a war-crimes trial, Arab and Egyptian positions, and five unresolved handwriting spans as [unclear]. The page establishes what the reproduced letter says, but does not independently verify its claims or reconstruct the unreadable text. Page 536 precedes it and page 538 continues the document appendix.
