[Qutb's text — collated Arabic] أيها الفدائيون... امضوا في طريقكم « إن يكن منكم عشرون صابرون يغلبوا مائتين . وإن يكن منكم مائة يغلبوا ألفاً من الذين كفروا ... )) . لقد آن أن نقولها للوزارة جاهرة قوية صريحة لا لُبس فيها ولا غموض ولا ابهام . لقد آن أن نقول لها : لا ! لن تخضع كتائب الفدائيين لحركة التطويق (١) التي تريدها الحكومة ! لا لن تحكم كتائب الفدائيين على نفسها بالإعدام لا لن يتخلى الفدائيون عن واجبهم بهذه السهولة . لا ولتصنع الحكومة ما تشاء فلم يعد الأمر أمر حكومة مقيدة بارتباطاتها الدولية ، مقيدة في تصرفاتها الرسمية ، تفكر بعقلية السلم في ابان المعركة ، وتشتغل بوسائل الدبلوماسيين ودماء المصريين وأعراضهم تنتهك في كل مكان . إن الوزارة التي لا تزال تعتقد أننا في حالة سلم مع الإنجليز ، تقتضي بقاء التمثيل السياسي والقنصلي بين الدولتين ، وتقتضي بقاء العلاقات الاقتصادية العادية بين الدولتين ، وتقتضي تعاون البوليس المصري مع السلطات الانجليزية في تعقب الفدائيين وتفتيش الدور بحثاً عن السلاح المخطوف .

[Sayyid Qutb] O Fedayeen, Continue on Your Path

“If there are twenty steadfast men among you, they will overcome two hundred; and if there are a hundred among you, they will overcome a thousand of those who disbelieve....”

The time has come to say it to the ministry loudly, forcefully, plainly, without ambiguity or obscurity. The time has come to tell it: No! The fedayeen battalions will not submit to the encirclement campaign (1) that the government wants. No! The fedayeen battalions will not sentence themselves to death. The fedayeen will not abandon their duty so easily. No! Let the government do as it pleases. The matter is no longer a matter for a government bound by its international commitments, constrained in its official conduct, thinking with a peacetime mentality in the midst of battle, and working through diplomatic means while Egyptian blood and honor are violated everywhere.

The ministry still believes that we are at peace with the English. This requires maintaining political and consular representation between the two countries, maintaining normal economic relations between them, and having the Egyptian police cooperate with the English authorities in pursuing the fedayeen and searching homes for captured weapons.
