بلا رحمة أو هوادة، حتى لقد توصل بها كثير من المجرمين اليهود إلى التخلص من العقاب . إن تشريع إسرا ونعمياس وقد أحاط اليهود بسياجه من سنة ٤٣٠ ق . م أى منذ أكثر من ألفى سنة مع مالهم من مميزات وخصائص مختلفة عن الشعوب الأخرى . كل ذلك أثار عليهم كراهية لم تثر على شعب من الشعوب . بنو إسرائيل حتى نهاية القرون الوسطى بيّنا فيما سبق أن اليهود لم يكن لهم قبل وضع تشريعهم تاريخ معروف . ولم نجد فيما بين أيدينا من مصادر التاريخ ما يخرج اليهود من بين الشعوب السامية أو يدل عليهم . ولم يكن الختان الذى كان شارة اليهود ليدل عليهم فى ذلك العهد فانه لم يعرف إلا إبان النفى البابل سنة ٥٢٠ ق . م . إذ كان يعتبر من الأمور المقدسة ، فلم يجمع الشعب اليهودى على احتجاج قام به فى ضجة كبيرة مثل إجماعه على ما قام به من احتجاج ضد انتيوخوس المقدونى حين حظر عليهم الختان . وصنع صنيعه بعد حين نادر يانس فقابله اليهود باستياء وثورة . وكلما تقدم بهم الزمان ازدادوا تمسكاً بتشريع إسرا ونعمياس . ومكث اليهود منذ سمح لهم بتجديد معابد سليمان

The legislation of Ezra and Nehemiah surrounded the Jews with its fence from 430 BCE, more than two thousand years ago, while they possessed characteristics and qualities different from those of other peoples.
