The works of German artists in churches, meanwhile, retain their magnificence, splendor and brilliant colors. Jewish press campaigns repeatedly caused disappointment and grief among great German artists. Strangely, if one of those Germans whom Jewish newspapers fought married a Jewish woman--as Richard Dehmel, Thomas Mann and Heinrich Mann did--the newspapers' attacks changed to praise and glorification.

The Jewish writer Moritz Goldstein wrote in 1872: "We Jews direct the people's thought as we wish and put it into practice, just as we control talents and authorities. Who can deny the Jews' power and authority over the press? Criticism in the major newspapers has become a Jewish monopoly whose plans they draw. The Jews' commanding influence over the theater requires no explanation. Theater directors in Berlin and Vienna, as well as most actors and actresses, are Jews. Without Jewish publicity, those musical ensembles throughout Germany would not have attained such extensive fame. Nor should we forget the benefit Jewish hands have bestowed upon literature."
