The Nazis therefore demanded--and supported their demand in speeches and writing--that every criminal and everyone who committed an offense against Germany, whether Jewish or non-Jewish, be brought before the court of justice. The Nazis also worked to protect German blood from the penetration of Jewish blood or other blood not belonging to the Germanic race.

The Viennese Jewish novelist Hugo Bettauer, known for what the author calls his vulgar works, wrote a story titled The City without Jews. In it he portrayed the inhabitants of the city, after the Jews had left, coming to them in submission and humiliation and imploring them to return.
