Arab fighters took a forward position in צפת ẒEFAT on 15 April 1948, while imperial withdrawal from a quarter of טבריה TEVERIYA accelerated Arab flight. Forces of פלמ״ח PALMAḤ also attempted a road operation near ساريس SARIS, with a failed attempt kept distinct from the later successful capture.
How did the threatened quarter prepare?
The loss of the vocational-school position exposed approaches to the quarter of יהודים YEHUDIM in צפת ẒEFAT. Defenders withdrew after heavy fighting. Residents moved from exposed homes, and commanders prepared supplies and positions for a siege. A dated Arab council appeal sought further military assistance.1
These preparations belong to the defense of an existing community. Imperial forces withdrew from צפת ẒEFAT. follows the next day's imperial withdrawal and the disputed sequence of the evacuation debate and reinforcement.
Why did people leave the northern quarter of the other city?
The study of טבריה TEVERIYA dates imperial withdrawal from Jub al-Ban to 15 April and links it to immediate departures. Loss of protection and military pressure form part of that flight. The source does not establish an order expelling every Arab resident of the city today.2
The route through the city toward the upper Galilee was also a national military concern. That strategic importance cannot replace the experiences or choices of individual families; no new household count is inferred.
What happened on the road to the capital?
The institutional account associates a failed attack on ساريس SARIS with the night of 15 April. Detection and gunfire led יוסף טבנקין YOSEF TABENKIN to order withdrawal. Its shorthand date does not fix the exact overnight boundary. פלמ״ח PALMAḤ captured ساريس SARIS and destroyed houses. separates this failed operation from the renewed attack during 16–17 April.3
What reports were still about earlier events?
Press coverage issued today continued to report event://5708־01־04־הדסה־convoy־massacre HADASSAH, which occurred on 13 April. Its changing estimates and accusations against imperial forces do not create fresh 15 April deaths. The original Hebrew newspaper image and burial register are needed to date particular mourning and burial events.4 5
The commander near רמת יוחנן RAMAT YOHANAN was meanwhile requesting ammunition and reinforcements, according to military reports translated in the later study. Their date and language channel remain explicit.6
How is this dated?
This is Day 138 of the 599-day civil-date series: 1948-04-15, counted from 30 November 1947, using the daytime conversion ו׳ בניסן ה׳תש״ח 6th 𝑜𝑓 Nisan, AM 5708. The route dates the rundown, not every incident mentioned. Occurrence dates, later reportage and retrospective publication are distinguished in each section and linked study. The school loss and imperial neighborhood withdrawal are assigned to 15 April. The failed road assault’s night-of-15-April wording leaves an overnight boundary unresolved. The medical-convoy reportage concerns 13 April. After sunset on this civil date, the adjacent Hebrew route is ז׳ בניסן ה׳תש״ח 7th 𝑜𝑓 Nisan, AM 5708; the daily slot does not assign every described act to its daytime route. This uses the fixed Hebrew calendar’s daytime conversion; occurrence precision and sunset alternatives remain as stated.7
