How did the new fighter force enter combat?
Four fighters of צה״ל ẒAHAL attacked the Egyptian column near אשדוד AŜDOD. The hurried mission killed one pilot and damaged scarce aircraft. The institutional participant account acknowledges limited physical damage. Its significance lies in bringing fighter aircraft into the defense of the state, while the claim that this raid alone stopped the invasion remains unproved. What did the Security Council call for?

The reply deadline was 1 June 18:00 New York standard time; it was not an already operative ceasefire in ארץ ישראל EREẒ YISRAʾEL. Why do military action and diplomacy appear together?
The defense of the coastal plain continued while negotiations sought limits on fighting. An adopted resolution did not itself remove the invading army or guarantee supplies to besieged households. Nor does the subsequent diplomatic chronology change the mission’s occurrence date. Each development needs its own evidence: a flight record to audit the sortie, enemy orders to test its effect, and acceptance and implementation records to establish the truce.
