Two defended communities faced different immediate outcomes. The Arab Legion took גזר GEZER, which מדינת ישראל MEDINAT YISRAʾEL liberated later in the day; Syrian forces took משמר הירדן MIŜMAR HA-YARDEN, where occupation continued. A summary saying only that the front changed would conceal deaths, captives and the difference between recovery and continuing loss.

What happened during the brief occupation?

The study The Arab Legion took גזר GEZER; מדינת ישראל MEDINAT YISRAʾEL liberated it. follows the assault, reported 29 dead, prisoners and evening counterattack. The later history's 68 defenders and the 15 June diary's 57 men are not reconciled nominal counts. Recovery around 19:00 also lies near the sunset boundary, so the exact Hebrew date of that stage remains open.1 2

What changed on the northern front?

The earlier 6 June defense and the 10 June fall of משמר הירדן MIŜMAR HA-YARDEN are distinct events. The expanded study event://5708־03־03־mishmar־hayarden־destroyed uses institutional history and the later United Nations record. It preserves claims of further fighting on 11 June instead of assuming all combat ended with today's fall.3 4

What supplies reached the capital before the truce?

The diary reports the preceding night's movement of 9½tons of flour and 1,300 gallons of fuel by jeeps, animals and porters. Flour weight and fuel volume are different measures. The record does not identify every recipient or prove that a regular truck route was complete.5

Commanders concluded that another assault on לטרון LATRUN before the truce would not be feasible. The fortified position's continuing occupation made the bypass essential. That strategic conclusion did not establish every subsequent supply plan as an accomplished delivery.

How is this dated?

This is Day 194 of the 599-day civil-date series: 1948-06-10. Its public daytime route is ג׳ בסיון ה׳תש״ח 3rd 𝑜𝑓 Sivan, AM 5708. After local sunset, the Hebrew date is ד׳ בסיון ה׳תש״ח 4th 𝑜𝑓 Sivan, AM 5708. This recap covers the civil day and separately identifies overnight occurrences, diary receipts, newspaper issues and later interpretation. The dated source and linked studies provide the occurrence evidence; the register’s slot is not proof of every event’s hour.6

Guided reflections

  • How do liberation later that day and continuing occupation produce different civilian outcomes?
  • What does a delivery by porters establish that a claim of a completed road does not?
