The new truce still required practical work to keep ירושלים YERUŜALAYIM supplied. The leadership divided transport responsibilities and heard reports that fighting had not stopped everywhere. Those two kinds of evidence establish a decision and a reported allegation, respectively.

How did the government organize deliveries?

The study Supply responsibilities for ירושלים YERUŜALAYIM were assigned. follows the 12 June allocation of civilian collection, porters, army logistics and local receipt. The meeting assigned responsibility; it was not proof that all subsequent schedules were met. The diary reports 22 tons of flour,12½tons of milk and 4 tons of cheese delivered overnight, alongside fuel, cigarettes and piping. These cargo categories cannot be combined into a single food measure.1

What was reported from the northern front?

Before noon, the diary records news of Syrian artillery and aircraft attacking עין גב ʿEIN GEV. That is a contemporaneous receipt of an allegation during the truce. The original unit log, final casualty evidence and observer investigation are not supplied. It is retained here as reported firing, without manufacturing a complete standalone battle or a verified toll.2

How did training and civilian need remain connected?

The entry discusses recommendations for improved military training and organization. Recommendations are not enacted reforms merely because recorded by the head of government. Its estimates for the capital include cumulative casualties and people receiving rations, not new deaths or displacement today.

The mediator's later account says normal water supply was not restored during the truce. Food arrivals and reduced shelling therefore cannot establish that everyday services had returned for all households. The temporary pause demanded continued military and civilian organization.3

How is this dated?

This is Day 196 of the 599-day civil-date series: 1948-06-12. Its public daytime route is ה׳ בסיון ה׳תש״ח 5th 𝑜𝑓 Sivan, AM 5708. After local sunset, the Hebrew date is ו׳ בסיון ה׳תש״ח 6th 𝑜𝑓 Sivan, AM 5708. This recap covers the civil day and separately identifies overnight occurrences, diary receipts, newspaper issues and later interpretation. The dated source and linked studies provide the occurrence evidence; the register’s slot is not proof of every event’s hour.4

Guided reflections

  • Why should a diary’s receipt of an attack report remain distinct from an observer’s finding?
  • Which records would show whether the new supply responsibilities improved actual household deliveries?
