Commanders signed a neutral-zone agreement in ירושלים YERUŜALAYIM, a diary status report documented village demolition and a scholarly biography dates a military governorship appointment to this day. These were distinct exercises of military and political power; none supplies a complete daily displacement count.
What agreement separated the opposing forces?
The study Agreement on a neutral zone in ירושלים YERUŜALAYIM. dates signature to 16 June afternoon from the next day's American telegram. Mapping finished the preceding night; an 18 June cable and 21 June United Nations document transmitted the agreement later. An evacuation arrangement does not establish every household's removal that afternoon or permanent denial of return.1
What did the demolition report distinguish?
The study A village-demolition report recorded completed and ongoing work. keeps completed, continuing and planned work separate, including a regional reference that is not one more village. The record demonstrates organized destruction reported during the truce. It does not establish twelve villages newly destroyed today or the cause of every resident's earlier departure.2
What authority did the governorship claim?
The scholarly biography supporting Appointment of أحمد حلمي AḤMAD ḤILMI as military governor of ירושלים YERUŜALAYIM. dates the appointment of أحمد حلمي باشا عبد الباقي AḤMAD ḤILMI PASHA ʿABD AL-BĀQI as military governor to 16 June. The original decree and exact jurisdiction remain unexamined. The office must stay distinct from a later government announced in September and cannot be treated as authority over every part of the city.3
What disagreement preceded the later ship crisis?
The diary says ישראל Galili YISRAʾEL and לוי אשכול LEVI ESHKOL met מנחם בגין MENAḤEM BEGIN yesterday and discussed a ship expected to arrive. Later it records a dispute about sending weapons to the capital against the government's orders and an intention to prevent that by force. These are meetings, expectations and a command dispute. They are not today's landing, final manifest, or the later armed confrontation involving the Altalena.4
Which supply dates must remain separate?
The entry says no food moved two days earlier because the road was crowded with withdrawing troops; yesterday about 100 tons arrived, around 85 percent flour. Those statements concern 14 and 15 June. Another 100 tons planned for tonight and projected road repairs remain plans. The date of the diary cannot move all these stages onto 16 June.5
A 16 June newspaper also reports revised immigration supervision and debate about observers. The original Council proceedings are needed to verify every vote and final procedural formulation; damaged headline wording is not silently reconstructed.6
What rule governed harvesting between the forces?
The study The United Nations issued a crop-harvesting directive. dates a United Nations crop-harvesting directive to June 16. It permitted harvesting to the midpoint between opposing lines and left disputed midpoints to observers. - Why do mapping, signature and publication give an agreement several relevant dates?
- How can a demolition report establish organized activity without establishing each household’s departure history?
