The surviving June 19 diary entry is brief: it identifies a party-council meeting on שבת ŜABAT. That small record is a real dated development. It cannot sustain an invented battle, detailed resolutions or a casualty count.

What does the Hebrew entry actually preserve?

The entry reads:

ᴏʀɪɢɪɴᴀʟ:

מועצת המפלגה. (שבת)

ᴛʀᴀɴꜱʟᴀᴛɪᴏɴ:

Party council. (Sabbath)1

The date heading and this sentence establish the meeting's place in the working diary. They do not identify every participant, reproduce a speech or show a unanimous decision. Original party minutes would be needed for those claims.

What other development can be dated independently?

The United Nations report dates receipt of twenty-four jeeps, eight trailers and forty-two field radio sets from the English Empire to June 19. These were equipment for observers supervising the truce. They must remain distinct from weapons imported for either fighting side.2

How much can a quiet record explain?

Political consultation and observer logistics continued while the truce held. The absence of a battle in this particular diary paragraph does not establish that no fighting happened anywhere. It establishes the limits of this record. The earlier commanders' review and the following ship crisis have their own dates and evidence, and are not borrowed to make this day appear more dramatic.

No source examined provides a complete daily casualty, property-loss or household-departure register. The recap keeps that gap visible while giving the day its actual public Event and chronology destination.

How is this dated?

The public Ivrit route uses the standard Gregorian-to-Hebrew calendar conversion; the event evidence and sunset qualification follow. This is Day 203 of the 599-day civil-date series: 1948-06-19. 19 June 1948 is the supported civil date. The daytime date is י״ב בסיון ה׳תש״ח 12th 𝑜𝑓 Sivan, AM 5708; after local sunset it is י״ג בסיון ה׳תש״ח 13th 𝑜𝑓 Sivan, AM 5708. This is the civil-day recap. Its component sections distinguish occurrences, receipt of reports, earlier events and future plans; a register slot is not proof of every hour. 3

Guided reflections

  • What can a brief diary entry establish about a party meeting?
  • Why is equipment delivered to observers distinct from arms delivered to a fighting force?
