The confrontation over the Altalena became armed fighting near כפר ויתקין KFAR VITKIN on June 21. Elsewhere, the diary records weapons accounting, allocation requests and finance. Requests and cumulative receipts must not be mistaken for deliveries completed this day.
What happened on the shore?
The study צה״ל ẒAHAL and הארגון HAʾIRGUN fought at כפר ויתקין KFAR VITKIN. distinguishes the reported afternoon firing ashore from subsequent naval activity. Later reconstructions allocate six הארגון HAʾIRGUN deaths and two צה״ל ẒAHAL deaths to this phase, with further losses the following day. Those figures are source-specific allocations rather than a verified nominal roll.1 2
What did the weapons discussion count?
The diary describes rifle receipts since the opening of מבצע נחשון MIVẒA NAHSHON and an accounting figure dated June 15. It also records allocation needs for rifles, machine guns, mortars and anti-armor equipment. A running stock figure and an order to supply a formation are different from a shipment physically received on June 21.3
How was the war to be financed?
Budget and loan discussions concerned the means of keeping forces supplied and paid. They show state institutions addressing the cost of survival. The proposed sums do not prove every loan was completed or every expenditure disbursed that day.4
The conflict between government command and an independent weapons allocation unfolded inside a wider war. Keeping military organization visible does not justify suppressing the losses among יהודים YEHUDIM at the shore, and keeping those losses visible does not make sovereign command irrelevant.
How is this dated?
The public Ivrit route uses the standard Gregorian-to-Hebrew calendar conversion; the event evidence and sunset qualification follow. This is Day 205 of the 599-day civil-date series: 1948-06-21. 21 June 1948 is the supported civil date. The daytime date is י״ד בסיון ה׳תש״ח 14th 𝑜𝑓 Sivan, AM 5708; after local sunset it is ט״ו בסיון ה׳תש״ח 15th 𝑜𝑓 Sivan, AM 5708. This is the civil-day recap. Its component sections distinguish occurrences, receipt of reports, earlier events and future plans; a register slot is not proof of every hour. 5
