What changed in the ceasefire diplomacy?
How did the original בארות יצחק BE’EROT YIZHAK survive?
Egyptian forces assaulted the original southern community with armor, infantry, artillery and aircraft. Defenders held inner positions despite water-tower damage, and reinforcement brought decisive artillery support. Later histories agree on 17 defenders killed but differ between 12 and 15 wounded. Their enemy figures concern dead and wounded together. See event://5708־04־08־beerot־יצחק־battle YIẒḤAK; the present settlement’s map must not relocate the battle.3 4
What happened near the capital?
The fighting at מלחה MALḤA extended across several days. A government memorial dates a medic’s death July 15 and alleges killing of wounded fighters and helpers in a cave. The allegation and competing casualty figures require original evidence; initial entry is not assigned wholesale to July 15. See Arab forces counterattacked at מלחה MALḤA..5 6
Whose lives connect this day to השואה HAʾŜOA?
The official records identify יצחק לוי YIẒḤAK LEVI, בנימין דוידוביץ׳ BINYAMIN DAVIDOVITCH and אברהם שלמה Simon AVRAHAM ŜLOMO as survivors who died in separate engagements that day. Their shared governmental family designation is not a completed genealogy. Deaths in battle of three survivors of השואה HAʾŜOA. preserves their named lives and the evidentiary limits.7 8 9
What did the leadership hear about refugees and misconduct?
The July 15 diary records a report of approximately 30, 000 refugees urgently needing bread, alongside allegations of looting and sexual assault. It establishes reports reaching the leadership and concern about discipline; it is not a judicial finding against each accused soldier. Its reference to protecting the holy buildings of נצרת NAẒRAT is prospective, before entry into the city.10
These categories are kept separate rather than combined into a purported complete daily death or displacement total.
How is this dated?
The cited record supports 15 July 1948. Its daytime portion is ח׳ בתמוז ה׳תש״ח 8th 𝑜𝑓 Tamuz, AM 5708; after local sunset it is ט׳ בתמוז ה׳תש״ח 9th 𝑜𝑓 Tamuz, AM 5708. This article uses ח׳ בתמוז ה׳תש״ח 8th 𝑜𝑓 Tamuz, AM 5708. This is the civil-day recap, not a claim that every component occurred on its daytime Hebrew date. Individual sections distinguish occurrence, orders, implementation, dispatch, publication and later testimony. The official survivor memorials preserve 8 Tamuz. Later recovery and reburial are not death dates. Resolution adoption does not date the ceasefire’s beginning. 11
