The state issued exceptional legal measures against terrorist organizations as הארגון HAʾIRGUN negotiated acceptance of the government’s military demands. Organizational suppression and negotiated incorporation remained different processes.
What legal measures were issued?
The September 20 regulations reached leadership, membership, support, property and military-court procedure. לח״י LEḤI and the Fatherland Front were designated under them. The September 21 UN summary and September 23 ordinance have later dates; neither moves first promulgation from September 20. 1 2
What did acceptance of the ultimatum mean?
The diary records willingness by הארגון HAʾIRGUN to comply and its wish for a formal demand to explain the decision internally. This preceded physical weapons surrender. Consent does not prove all individual enlistments were complete that day. 3
Which complaint exposed the recruits’ family stakes?
The diary records an immigrant soldier’s complaints about separating spouses and friends and the handling of belongings. It is an individual report, not evidence of prevalence throughout the army or a completed remedy. The complaint keeps family relationships visible within the administrative work of absorbing recruits. The leadership’s receipt of it does not itself establish that the alleged treatment ended. 4
