Arab gunmen killed ההגנה HAʾHAGANA commander Yehoshua Globerman near Latrun.

Yehoshua Globerman, a senior ההגנה HAʾHAGANA commander, was killed by Arab gunfire near Latrun on 25 Kislev 5708 while traveling to take command of a fighting brigade in the Shephelah. His Ministry of Defense memorial describes years of work in the defense of יהודים YEHUDIM, training, military planning, and Hebrew military instruction. He was forty-two and left a wife and two daughters.¹

A United States diplomatic document's editorial footnote says that Golda Myerson and דוד בן-גוריון DAVID BEN-GURION discussed the convoy ambush with the American consul on the day Globerman was killed. The underlying telegram was not inspected, so this remains an editor's summary rather than a direct quotation from the original dispatch.²

Globerman's 1905 birth in Belarus does not make him a Holocaust survivor. The sources reviewed describe his earlier work organizing the defense of יהודים YEHUDIM during violence targeting them and his long service in the ההגנה HAʾHAGANA; they do not identify him as a survivor of the later Holocaust.
