Armed men attacked the settlement of יהודים YEHUDIM at location://KfarYaavetz. Other operations and losses around location://Yerusalayim and location://Negev appear in reports of the same period but have less secure hours and victim lists.
What happened at location://KfarYaavetz?
On 27 December 1947, armed men from the Qalansuwa and Taybeh region attacked יהודים YEHUDIM living in location://KfarYaavetz. Benny Morris identifies the locally based force in his history of the 1948 war. A later unit account describes fighting lasting about six hours, two defenders killed and British armored vehicles helping to end the assault. Those precise force and casualty figures should be checked against the original ההגנה HAʾHAGANA and police files. 1
The later Alexandroni unit history states in Hebrew:
הקרב נמשך כשש שעות.2
TJD translation: The battle lasted about six hours.
A duration without a start time still cannot settle whether the fighting crossed sunset.

What is reported about location://Silwan?
Contemporary reporting describes a ההגנה HAʾHAGANA raid on houses in location://Silwan near location://Yerusalayim around 27–28 December 1947. The 28 December Filastin issue and a JTA report published 29 December form the accessible press trail. JTA reported five houses destroyed, one child killed and two people wounded; those are the dispatch’s claims, not a verified person-level roll. 3 4
The focused source discussion is retained in ההגנה HAʾHAGANA raided houses in location://Silwan.. Its event date and this daily article’s civil-day route are not automatically the same.
What happened to pipeline guards in location://Negev?
Two יהודים YEHUDIM guarding a water pipeline in location://Negev were reported killed during the fighting around 27 December 1947. דוד בן-גוריון DAVID BEN-GURION’s diary and JTA’s 29 December dispatch are the source trail supplied for this event. The reports also describe British forces seizing weapons of יהודים YEHUDIM defending the line. These accounts show that infrastructure and the people guarding it were exposed to attack before independence. 5 6

How is this dated?
This is Day 28 of the 599-day civil-date series: 1947-12-27. Its OTD route, 5708-10-14, is the daytime fixed-Hebrew conversion of that civil date, not a claim that every action mentioned here occurred before sunset.7 The adjacent Hebrew date after local sunset is 15 Tevet 5708 (5708-10-15). Morris and the Alexandroni unit history date the Kfar Yaavetz attack to civil 27 December; the reported six-hour battle has no checked start time and may have crossed into 15 Tevet. The Silwan and pipeline reports cover about 27–28 December and remain less precisely placed. Newspaper issue dates, dispatch dates and later testimony are kept distinct from occurrence dates.
