A mine and gunfire struck transport serving הדסה HADASSAH, gravely wounding a worker and obstructing another ambulance. Military planning, local approaches for peace and overseas fundraising continued. An editorial again framed immigration as a threat, while reportage of the overnight raid required caution about casualties and displacement.
What happened on the medical road?
At 07:55, a mine exploded ahead of a bus; the docket says the initial blast injured nobody. Gunfire then struck the vehicles and a worker suffered a grave head wound. At 11:30, another ambulance turned back because of danger at a damaged culvert. The eventual outcome for the wounded worker is not established in the submission. The full study is Attack on הדסה HADASSAH medical transport..1
The account describes marked medical vehicles and repeated interference with access. Their institutional purpose is central to what was endangered, without supplying the identity of every gunman or a verified death toll.
What did the leadership plan and report?
דוד בן-גוריון DAVID BEN-GURION's diary records artillery planning and training needs. Figures for proposed guns and previously discussed explosives are not deliveries completed on 7 March. The same entry reports an approach for peace from the area of بيار عدس BIR ADAS, relayed by Gad Meknes. It does not establish a signed or durable agreement.2
JTA's account of the overnight raid gave twenty Arab deaths, one death among יהודים YEHUDIM, five wounded and four buildings destroyed. These are reported figures, not a nominal casualty register. They do not prove that all dead were combatants or that every resident fled. The night 6–7 March dating remains a reconstruction from the dispatch.3
What did the editorial say about immigration?
The UN press review translates الدفاع AL-DIFAʿ's 7 March editorial opposing the admission of refugees from Cyprus and presenting the arriving population collectively as an enemy. This is evidence of exclusionary antizionist argument, not individual evidence about the refugees' histories or intentions. The translated population figure is not a passenger manifest.4 The related 3 March argument is examined in الدفاع AL-DIFAʿ rejected sovereignty and immigration for יהודים YEHUDIM..
What was announced abroad?
A 7 March bulletin reported thirty-five million dollars in cash raised for the UJA campaign over the preceding two weeks. It was not all raised that day, nor does the report establish that every dollar was allocated to military purposes. The announcement documents organized material support at a time when national institutions faced both war and the needs of survivors and immigrants.5
How is this dated?
This is Day 99 of the 599-day civil-date series: 1948-03-07. Its daytime portion maps to כ״ו באדר א׳ ה׳תש״ח 26th 𝑜𝑓 Adar I, AM 5708. After local sunset, the Hebrew date changes to כ״ז באדר א׳ ה׳תש״ח 27th 𝑜𝑓 Adar I, AM 5708. This calendar convention does not prove that every reported act occurred in daylight.
The medical entries explicitly give daylight 7 March, corresponding to 26 Adar I. The diary and editorial bear 7 March; the editorial is available here through a 2 April translation. The overnight raid is placed within 6–7 March, likely after the preceding sunset. The fundraising announcement covers two weeks, not one day. 6
