Egyptian attacks drove defenders from חירבת מחאז ḤIRBAT MAḤAZ before a counterattack recovered the position. The institutional history places the armored seizure around 16:00 and the counterattack between 18:30 and 19:00. The evening action crosses a possible sunset boundary and is not all assigned to the daytime route. 1

The meeting with the American secretary of state defended the נגב NEGEV as a reserve for immigration and development. The ambulance agreement enabled Arab patients to cross הר הצופים HAR HA’ẒOFIM under UN escort; its publication followed on October 6. A separate American draft discussed refugee relief using estimates of 330,000 Arab and 7,000 people among יהודים YEHUDIM already made refugees.
