Bedouin representatives approached the state for protection and return. The government debated its reply concerning withdrawal, while military correspondence addressed accusations from مجد الكروم MAJD AL-KURUM. Petitions, cabinet decisions and earlier crimes retain their separate dates.

What did the Bedouin approach establish?

The petition study describes requests at באר שבע BEʾER SEVA for security, cultivation, stored property and release of detained people. Five Arabic petition signatures must remain distinct from the later sixteen-representative account. The scholars contest treating these requests as proof of a binding promise recognizing land rights. 1

How was the withdrawal reply decided?

דוד בן-גוריון DAVID BEN-GURION recorded drafting a reply with Walter Eytan and obtaining cabinet approval after disagreement over withdrawal toward Deir Suneid. The diary page’s civil date and archive metadata identify November 18; its transcribed Hebrew year תש״פ is erroneous. The reply’s communication is recorded separately on November 19. Approval of wording does not establish that every claimed withdrawal happened. 2 3

What did the letter about مجد الكروم MAJD AL-KURUM concern?

Colonel Baruch’s November 18 letter referred to a November 10 visit by UN observers and villagers’ accusations of murder and plunder. It called for a speedy remedy and worried about reports reaching Paris. The expanded village Event retains November 5 for the killings. The letter is a later institutional response, not a new massacre or an independent forensic dismissal. 4

How is this dated?

This is Day 355 of the 599-day civil-date series: 1948-11-18. The public daytime route is ט״ז בחשוון ה׳תש״ט 16th 𝑜𝑓 Ḥeŝvan, AM 5709, checked by fixed-Hebrew-calendar conversion with Hebcal. 5 This article is the civil-day rundown, not a claim that all covered actions share that Hebrew occurrence date. Any event after local sunset belongs to י״ז בחשוון ה׳תש״ט 17th 𝑜𝑓 Ḥeŝvan, AM 5709. Exact clocks, derivative source dates and alternative timing are stated beside each material claim. No audited daily casualty or displacement total is established by these records.

Guided reflections

  • How can a petition be documented without becoming an accepted agreement?
  • Why is a diplomatic concern about accusations not a forensic rebuttal?
