Brigade גבעתי GIVATI returned to Idna and raided another village during the night of November 27–28. The later military account identifies actions and dates more clearly than their civilian consequences.
What changed at Idna?
After the previous night’s failed attempt, the same company returned during November 27–28. Geshur calls the second raid successful. That assessment does not specify prisoners, casualty totals, lasting territorial control or household losses. TJD retains the account’s military outcome without supplying consequences it does not document. 1
What happened at Khirbat Umm Burj?
The same history records a separate raid and demolition of buildings at Khirbat Umm Burj, also called Khirbat Burjin. Its separate location must not be absorbed into the Idna encounter. Building destruction alone does not establish the owners’ combatant status, presence or subsequent departure. 2
What civilian institutions were taking shape?
Election preparations remained part of the state’s transition from wartime provisional authority toward elected government. The November 18 ordinance fixed the legal framework; it did not newly grant voting rights on November 27. The subsequent JTA dispatch says the Council selected the election date the previous night, conflicting with Klir’s earlier placement. Original Council minutes remain necessary. 3 4
How is this dated?
This is Day 364 of the 599-day civil-date series: 1948-11-27. TJD converts its daytime portion with the fixed Hebrew calendar to כ״ה בחשוון ה׳תש״ט 25th 𝑜𝑓 Ḥeŝvan, AM 5709. The slot does not assign every reported action to that Hebrew day. The raids are dated as November 27–28 night operations, not exact daytime November 27 occurrences. Their after-sunset Hebrew date is כ״ו בחשוון ה׳תש״ט 26th 𝑜𝑓 Ḥeŝvan, AM 5709, even if an action occurred before civil midnight. The Council date remains provisional rather than inferred from this daily slot. 5
