Who was removed from the two villages?
Morris dates an operation by the 79th Battalion at الفراضية AL-FARRĀḌIYYA and كفر عنان KAFR ʿINĀN to February 4. He describes 45 people classified as infiltrators expelled across the lines and about 200 permitted residents transferred to مجد الكروم MAJD AL-KURUM. The full study preserves the separate outcomes and the largely elderly, female and child composition reported for the internal group. This evidence supports coercive removal; it supplies neither a death toll nor a complete nominal register.1
What did American officials assess?
Robert M. McClintock’s February 4 memorandum identifies the disagreement around al-Auja: the government of מדינת ישראל MEDINAT YISRAʾEL considered defensive positions necessary, while the Kingdom of Egypt feared a threat to its frontier. He believed an agreement could assist other armistices. Those were diplomatic assessments about unresolved negotiations, not completed terms or evidence that all parties shared his forecast.2
What did the Moscow dispatch establish?
JTA reported a Soviet pamphlet attacking ציונות ẒIYONUT as reactionary and serving imperial interests. The account supports identifying reported ideological antizionism despite diplomatic recognition of מדינת ישראל MEDINAT YISRAʾEL. The pamphlet’s title, author and Russian text remain unidentified; its alleged circulation of approximately 150,000 is an attributed press figure. The report does not validate the pamphlet’s accusation or establish every reader’s response.3
