The southern advance reached the gulf as the first government under the elected כנסת KNESSET took office.

What did the Ink Flag mark?

The Eilat study describes restored sovereignty of עם ישראל AM YISRAʾEL at the gulf. The afternoon operational account conflicts with a diplomatic report placing the flag at 22:00. The commanders’ reference to an 11 Adar commemoration is not a claim that arrival occurred on that day. Military withdrawal at the post does not establish civilian displacement.12

Which government took office?

The government formation study uses the official register’s March 10 beginning date. JTA reported 73 votes for confidence and 45 against, but its March 11 “today” wording creates a clock discrepancy requiring the original protocol. Presentation on March 8 and formation are distinct acts.34

Was the Egyptian prisoner exchange a new March 10 event?

The UN implementation report dates transfers to March 7–9. The former March 10 article has been moved to the completion route and redirected. Reportage about arrangements should link to the completed exchange without creating another transfer or repeating the operation’s totals.5

How is this dated?

This is Day 467 of the 599-day civil-date series, 1949-03-10. The date register’s fixed-Hebrew daytime conversion is ט׳ באדר ה׳תש״ט 9th 𝑜𝑓 Adar, AM 5709; after sunset it is י׳ באדר ה׳תש״ט 10th 𝑜𝑓 Adar, AM 5709. This route identifies the daily recap. It does not assign earlier occurrences, evening movements, cumulative counts or later newspaper issues to the daytime Hebrew date. The cited source dates and reconstructed clocks are distinguished in the sections above and in the linked major studies.6

Guided reflections

  • Why does the flag’s reported 22:00 clock change its Hebrew date?
  • What evidence should control when JTA’s vote clock conflicts with the official government term?
