Negotiators sought territorial revisions while מדינת ישראל MEDINAT YISRAʾEL planned ministry transfers to ירושלים YERUŜALAYIM.
What changes did the prime minister seek?
Stabler’s 18:00 telegram describes a morning conversation with prime minister Tawfiq Abu al-Huda. He wanted compensation near חברון ḤEVRON and UN administration for part of the Triangle pending peace. He also said his government would act in its own interest rather than treat advice from the English Empire as mandatory. This supports agency within an unequal alliance, not complete independence from external influence.1
The proposed meeting at Shuneh was still prospective. The March 23 arrangement had not become an implemented final frontier merely because delegates had signed it.
What government work was planned in ירושלים YERUŜALAYIM?
The report’s reconstruction dates a ministry-transfer decision to March 27. The fuller study preserves that provisional date, Klir’s four principal ministries, the UN’s five, and the lack of original cabinet minutes. The planned move made government presence in ירושלים YERUŜALAYIM a concrete sovereignty issue; no complete physical relocation is asserted.234
What did דוד בן־Gurion DAVID BEN promise cultural figures?
Klir’s March 28 entry dates a gathering of writers, scientists and cultural figures to the previous evening. It reports דוד בן־Gurion DAVID BEN rejecting a totalitarian state and supporting freedom of inquiry. This is a retrospective compilation of a declared principle, not a record proving all later government conduct respected it. The evening gathering may have crossed into the following Hebrew date.5
How is this dated?
This is the civil-day recap for 1949-03-27, Day 484 of the 599-day series. The register’s daytime fixed-Hebrew conversion is כ״ו באדר ה׳תש״ט 26th 𝑜𝑓 Adar, AM 5709. The civil-day slot does not place every reported occurrence on that Hebrew date: local after-sunset events belong to כ״ז באדר ה׳תש״ט 27th 𝑜𝑓 Adar, AM 5709, and issue dates remain distinct from earlier events.6
Stabler describes a morning conversation; the ministry decision is a provisional March 27 reconstruction, and the cultural gathering was the previous evening in Klir’s March 28 entry.789
