At the same time, the official and popular bodies in the Gaza area, such as the Supreme Muslim Council, the municipal councils, the chambers of commerce, and the Executive Committee of the Refugee Conference, share the Arab Committee’s view and hope that it will be implemented. Representatives of those bodies met with us concerning this matter to convey their desire to the honored Egyptian government.

In response, I received the following letter from His Excellency, in which he promised to study and consider this desire:

To the President of the Arab Higher Committee for Palestine

Greetings,

I have received your gracious letter, in which I learned of the Palestinian Arab people’s support for the step taken by the Egyptian Army command to train Palestinian young men capable of bearing arms, providing them with military preparation so that they can perform their duty to liberate their Arab country.

The Committee wishes for this training to expand to include all Palestinian youth and for the Egyptian government to apply conscription regulations to the Palestinians in response to the wishes of the various Palestinian bodies.

I will place this desire under study and consideration. May God guide the Arab nation toward what brings it glory and elevation.
