they went so far as to seduce many Christian women. When people became aware of this danger, the door to seduction was closed to them: no Jew in Germany was permitted to enter a Christian house for any kind of work except in the company of a Christian person.
Until the late Middle Ages Jews were regarded as an ill omen for the foreigners among whom they lived. No Jew had the right to complain against a German or bring a legal action against him. This was described as the most effective response to what their Talmud supposedly said in treating non-Jews as livestock and cattle. Yet the Jew was not at a loss for devices by which to recover his right or take revenge. This gave writers and novelists extensive material for the exercise of their imaginations, and Shakespeare wrote one of his immortal plays on this theme, The Merchant of Venice.
They say that all peoples place the Jews in special quarters and require them not to go beyond them. But who today forbids the Jews--who control finance in every country--to live wherever they wish?
