The Palestine Revolt: Its Causes and Consequencesby Muḥammad Rashīd Riḍā

This edition presents both installments of Muḥammad Rashīd Riḍā’s ثورة فلسطين - أسبابها ونتائجها, Thawrat Filasṭīn (The Palestine Revolt: Its Causes and Consequences). The first appeared in al-Manār, volume 30, number 5, on 1 November 1929, printed pp. 385–393; the second appeared in number 6 on 1 December 1929, pp. 450–468.¹

The controlling witnesses are the two issue facsimiles containing the November and December installments.

The two issue dates and page ranges remain distinct because this is a serial article published in two installments. The complete Arabic transcription and a rough English source draft are retained beside the bounded facsimile. The dated article has a separate working English rendering. The page edition has a candidate English translation and a candidate TJD analysis for each of its 28 printed pages. All page translations and all 26 within-installment English boundaries received independent bilingual review against the collated Arabic and controlling scan.

The dated evidence article is anchored to the first installment and records the continuation separately. The source package preserves the entire serial work.

All 28 printed pages have Arabic page files: nine for November and nineteen for December. Every page was compared line by line with the enlarged scan and is marked collated. This is a checked Arabic transcription, not independent verification of Riḍā’s claims. Every page also has candidate English and page analysis. The analysis distinguishes Riḍā’s public positions from the events, motives, ancient history, and future outcomes that the essay cannot establish on its own. The page apparatus records scan-led corrections on pp. 389, 391–392, 393, 452, 462, 464, 466, 467 and 468. It also records the unprinted November continuation marker excluded from the page text, the p. 450 footnote restored and translated on its printed page, and the small issue matter below the running article on p. 465 that was excluded. Printed p. 468 ends the article. Fine vowel marks remain open as a later proofreading improvement.

The 1929 text is public domain. This runtime edition publishes TJD's derived transcription, translation, analysis and apparatus. The controlling facsimile and private Research assets remain outside the package.

Riḍā’s text is evidence of his public argument, including collective claims about יהודים YEHUDIM and their history. It does not independently establish those historical claims, the alleged uniform conduct of יהודים YEHUDIM, or the accuracy of his account of ancient conquest and Muslim rule. This edition keeps his assertions as source speech so that each can be tested separately.
